Here's a site which offers a specific set of stretches to be able to do the splits...they may not help with your pulled muscle, but there are some good stretches listed:

I know of several good stretches however find it difficult to describe them in writing. I would suggest the links given above.

Hmmm. Did you pull your upper leg muscle or your lower leg muscle? Or both? We need to know which one in order to help you. From what I know, there is always the sit and reach, where you reach for your toes. That helps your hamstrings, I know.

Hey,
I am stretch specialist!!! Not really, but I had a lot of trouble with elasticity, I am not extremely elastic (naturewise) and for example over the summer when I didn't dance and train a lot my body always lost a lot of elasticity (from doing a split comfortably, even overstretch it to more than 180 degrees, to hover 5 cms above the floor crying out in pain!). Every year after summer break, or winter break I would have to train until I was about to cry for a few weeks, it was terrible! But I am a lazy girl and I really enjoyed not training for a few weeks a year!! So I didn't want to do hours and hours of exercise in the summer, but I also didn't want to lose elasticity... no solution there I thought...
Until I discovered Pilates! It is great, it trains elasticity and stretches almost every muscle! The best thing about Pilates is that you can either take classes for a while and then do it at home when there is no classes available, or directly buy a Pilates DVD/Video (and even 45 minutes a day help so much!!)! The classes we had were excellent, we usually had an hour before starting the day (I trained/danced for about 8 to 10 hours a day while I was in Musical school) and sometimes an hour after finishing the day, and there was such a difference, dancing stretched and dancing unstretched!
My mother who never danced anything and my granma who does Yoga have started doing Pilates as well and even though they have no elasticity at all they are enjoying it and gaining a lot from the DVD (they don't have time to go to the gym). I really recommend it for everyone!
Also I dislocated my hip once when I was around 17 and Pilates helped me back into shape in very little time!
Hope to help, Cami
